HPS / MH Lighting
HPS (High Pressure Sodium) and MH (Metal Halide) lighting are types of discharge lamps that are widely used in agriculture, horticulture, as well as street and industrial lighting. HPS lamps emit light with a color similar to orange or red, which is ideal for promoting plant growth during the flowering and fruiting stages. They are characterized by high luminous efficiency and long life, making them an economical choice for many applications. MH lamps, on the other hand, produce light with a more balanced spectrum, resembling natural daylight. This makes them excellent for promoting vegetative growth of plants, and they are used where high quality color reproduction is important, such as in lighting sports arenas or warehouses. Both technologies, despite giving way to more modern solutions such as LED in terms of energy efficiency and environmental performance, are still valued for their specific light characteristics and reliability in specialized applications. However, their use is increasingly limited due to growing environmental awareness and the need to save energy, leading to a search for more sustainable and cost-effective lighting alternatives.
