PORTABLE EC MEASURING INSTRUMENT MODEL: MW302

(for measuring nutrients in solution)

In hydroponic cultivation, THIS INSTRUCTOR will allow you to check whether the plants have already absorbed nutrients - you should then replace the solution.

It also makes it easier to set your own nutrient solution composition (not using fertilizer manufacturers' tables) and minimize the risk of "burning" plants by overdosing on fertilizers

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

- The meter is compatible with a 9V battery. Slide off the flap on the back of the instrument and insert the batteries according to the poles.

- Connect the probe to the instrument by aligning the ends of the plug.

- Be sure that the meter has been properly calibrated before taking any measurement. (See "calibration procedure")

- Dip the tip of the EC probe (about 4cm) into the solution. If possible, use a plastic dish to minimize EMC interference.

- Turn on the instrument (ON) with the ON/OFF button.

- Wait until the temperature sensor reaches thermal equilibrium before taking a measurement.

- After taking the measurement, turn the instrument off (OFF). The probe should be cleaned and dry well. You can use alcohol for better cleaning.

CALIBRATION PROCEDURE:

NOTE: always use the calibration table listed on the calibration solution package

- Clean the probe with alcohol and let it dry.

- Open the vessel with the calibration solution (see "specifications") and immerse the probe being sure that the metal tips are fully submerged.

- Wait until thermal equilibrium is reached and the reading is stable.

- Adjust the calibration dial on the back of the instrument with a screwdriver so that the displayed value is

1.4 mS/cm = 1400uS/cm (unless the table on the calibration fluid states otherwise)

- At this stage the calibration is complete, the instrument is ready for use.

- It is recommended to recalibrate the instrument once a month and when the battery or probe is replaced.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT:

When the batteries are close to running out the instrument will show "V".

When the low battery indicator is shown, it means they have about 50 hours of operation left. Weak batteries can cause the instrument to show erroneous readings.

It is recommended to replace the batteries systematically. Batteries can only be changed in a safe place. It must be a 9V battery. Turn off the instrument, slide off the flap and replace the 9V battery with a new one. We must be sure that the battery is inserted according to the poles, then close the flap back.
