PORTABLE pH METER
MODEL: MW100
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
- The meter is compatible with a 9V battery. Slide off the flap on the back of the instrument and insert the batteries according to the poles.
- Always remove the cover from the electrode before starting any measurements. If the electrode has been left dry, soak the tip (about 2.5cm) in a cleaning solution (M10000B) for a few minutes to return it to the proper condition.
- Connect the pH electrode to the BCN socket on top of the meter.
- Be sure that the meter has been properly calibrated before taking any measurement. (See "calibration procedure")
- Dip the tip of the electrode (about 2.5cm) into the solution.
- Turn the instrument on (ON) using the ON/OFF button.
- The instrument takes a while to stabilize the pH level reading before taking the final measurement.
- After taking the measurement, turn off the instrument (OFF) and hide the electrode in the sheath, adding a few drops of the protection solution.
CALIBRATION PROCEDURE :
NOTE: always use the calibration table provided on the calibration solution package
step 1
- Remove the shield from the electrode.
- Dip the tip of the electrode into a dish of pH7 calibration solution, wait for the instrument to read and stabilize the pH reading.
- Adjust the pH7 calibration indicator to show pH 7.0. (Unless the table on the calibration fluid states otherwise)
step 2
- Open the vessel with the pH4 calibration solution and use a small amount to wash the electrode.
- Dip the tip of the electrode into the vessel with the solution equal to pH4, wait until the instrument stabilizes the pH reading.
- Adjust the pH4/pH10 calibration indicator to show pH 4.0. (If the table on the calibration fluid does not state otherwise).
- At this stage the calibration is complete, the instrument is ready for measurements.
- It is recommended to recalibrate once a month and after a long period of unsuitability or after replacing the electrode.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
When the batteries are close to running out the instrument will show "V".
When the low battery indicator is shown, it means they have about 50 hours of operation left. Weak batteries can cause the instrument to show erroneous readings.
It is recommended to replace the batteries systematically. Batteries can only be changed in a safe place. It must be a 9V battery.
Turn off the instrument, slide off the flap and replace the 9V battery with a new one. We must be sure that the battery is inserted according to the poles, then close the flap back.
